Address of Rinat Akhmetov on the Humanitarian Center’s 3rd anniversary
Today we mark the third anniversary of the establishment of the Humanitarian Center. These have been three years of fighting to save our countrymen, three years of courage, engagement and kindness.
Saving people is a heroic deed. And I want to say many thanks to all of you for these acts of courage. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been working and keeps working with us: employees of the Humanitarian Center, volunteers, and all our partners. The contribution of each of you is invaluable.
What characteristics should a man possess if his/her job and calling is to help people?
This is the ability to work in a team, shoulder to shoulder, in any situation. And you demonstrated this ability for 24 hours a day. This is courage that you have in abundance. However, the most important thing is an ability to feel someone else’s pain as your own. For you these are not hardships and sufferings of other people.
Over these three years, you have not just been delivering medication and food to the most vulnerable people of Donbas. You gave them your heart and love during the most terrible days. You saved them from death and diseases, you gave them hope and confidence that no one would be left without help.
This is especially dear to my heart because I will never leave people in trouble. I have helped and I will always help those who need it most.
There is still much work to do and we have new challenges ahead. And we have a peaceful life ahead of us, I am convinced of this. Peace will return to Donbas and Ukraine, and it will be your great achievement.
Thank you, my friends.
With deepest respect,
